Of Being Between:
Opening Celebration

25 July 2024
5:00PM-8:00PM

Please join us for the opening celebration of Claudia Cuesta: Of Being Between curated by Ellinee Rae Nelson, UBC Masters candidate in Critical Curatorial Studies.

Featuring a selection of works that includes multimedia paintings, sculptural installations, and poetry, the exhibition celebrates the career of Sunshine Coast-based Colombian artist Claudia Cuesta. Of Being Between sheds new light on Cuesta’s practice by bringing together, for the first time, works from the 1980s to the present. This exhibition emphasizes her multidisciplinary approach to sculpture, the breadth and diversity of the materials she uses, and the simultaneously personal and sociopolitical nature of her work.

Of Being Between is presented with support from the Audain Endowment for Curatorial Studies through the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory in collaboration with the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery at The University of British Columbia.
