Berlin Curator Visits and Talks

19 March 2019

In spring 2019, Or Gallery is pleased to welcome seven visiting curators and publishers from Berlin to Vancouver.

As a much acknowledged centre for the development and networking of influential discourses and people connected to contemporary art, and a hub for artists from Asia, Africa, India, South America, North America and elsewhere in Europe, Berlin has been the focus of much of Or Gallery’s international exchanges and relationships.

In May 2018, Or Gallery partnered with SAVVY Contemporary to produce the exhibition Whose Land Have I Lit on Now? Contemplations on the Notions of Hospitality with artists from Vancouver, Berlin and elsewhere. Or Gallery and SAVVY are partnering with Archive Books to produce a publication with contributions from the exhibition’s public programs and critical writing and artworks from Vancouver based practitioners.

The spring curator visits enable our partnering organizations to engage their interest in Vancouver and Canadian art production, in relation to our artist-run centre culture as well as the diversity of our cultural practitioners.

Please join us for a series of public talks on representations of decolonization in exhibitions and public programming with practitioners from Haus der Kulturen der Welt, SAVVY Contemporary, Archive Books, Zurich University of the Arts, and the Academy of Fine Art, Vienna.
